Discovering Melka Estates

A Thoughtful Approach to Winemaking

Tucked into the hillside in Napa Valley, Melka Estates is a place where every detail feels intentional—from the wines to the design of the cave to the way guests are welcomed. During our visit, we met with Sylvie, VP of Sales, whose warm and down-to-earth approach immediately set the tone. The property is beautiful and calming, with a new cave that’s as impressive as the rest of the property. Personal touches can be found throughout—barrel aisles in the cave named for places meaningful to the Melka family, and furnishings brought back from travels, like a beautiful Moroccan table found in the tasting room.

Melka is a small team, but one built on decades of experience and a shared philosophy. Philippe and Cherie Melka bring deep expertise from both French and California winemaking, which shapes their approach: minimal intervention, a focus on site expression, and wines that highlight structure, balance, and elegance. Sustainability is also woven into their work, from responsible farming practices to the use of eco-conscious materials throughout the estate.

The team is also deeply committed to giving back. They’ve long supported causes that matter to them including animal welfare, children’s health, and sustainability. Their continued support of Family House and the Cabernet for Connoisseurs event reflects a genuine desire to help others.

Melka Estates combines thoughtful winemaking with a sense of place and purpose, and it shows in every glass. If you’re planning a visit to Napa, be sure to call ahead (707-963-6008) so you can experience Melka Estates for yourself.
